FOSTERING OUR RABBITS
One of the biggest problems we are facing is the need for foster homes for our bunnies! Fostering is a great way for you to get involved in saving a rabbit's life! It's wonderful for people who can't commit to owning a rabbit. Fostering also allows a person who is new to rabbits decide if rabbits are the right pet for them long-term. Fostering is relatively simple but so important!
HOW FOSTERING WORKS
The goal is to provide a bunny with a safe, loving environment until they can be adopted. The first thing you have to do is fill out a Foster Application.
We ask that you care for your foster bunny as if it were your own, which means giving them a comfortable place to live, showering them with love and affection, providing exercise time out of their enclosure, and keeping them healthy and happy. Commitment times for fostering range from 4 weeks to indefinitely. Bunnies available for adoption can be fostered while we are working to find them forever homes.
Foster rabbits are still technically cared for by Hunny-Bunns Rabbit Rescue. This means we can help provide for their needs so that fostering is not a large financial burden to you. You will get an exercise pen, food and water bowls, and a litter box. You are asked to provide daily greens, and we can assist with pellet food, litter and hay if not in your budget.
FOSTER REQUIREMENTS
-
Having your own transportation is a must so that the bunny could be taken to the vet when medically necessary or back to the shelter when needed.
-
You must have room inside your home for an exercise pen, which will be the bunny's home base.
-
Daily exercise and free roam time is expected, at least 4 hours either inside your home or outside, with supervision.
-
And we ask you to shower your foster bunny with love and affection. Each of these rescued bunnies deserve to feel special!
